Heath Lambert announced it is forming a specialist natural resources group within its Global Business Solutions division.
The brokerage said the group has been formed in response to the increases in its energy, power utilities and mining business.
It also said diversification in the sector needed the concentration of a single division to manage it.
The team will be headed up by David Way.
Heath Lambert's Global Business Solutions managing director Martin Emkes said: "We expect that energy companies will continue to diversify into all forms of natural resource exploitations.
“The formation of our Natural Resources Group will allow us to better focus our resources on the needs of this ever-expanding and changing sector."
