Law firm Silverbeck Rymer has formed a partnership with motor insurer Highway to manage its small claims and recovery work.

As part of the deal, the in-house legal team of Highway will move to the law firm's Chelmsford offices. The team is to receive additional training from the law firm in fraud investigation and technical aspects of claims handling.

The venture is the first project to be undertaken by the consultancy arm of Silverbeck Rymer.

Senior partner James Rymer said that the joint venture would build on the law firm's strong relationship with Highway.

“It will produce a substantial saving by combining fixed fees with agreed volumes of work to ensure that economies of scale are maximised for the benefit of Highway's policyholders,” he said.

Rymer added that the joint venture marks a departure from the traditional approach of law firms managing claims alone.

“This project justifies our heavy investment in developing the consultancy arm of the practice.”

Highway chairman David Poole said the partnership would increase the efficiency of claims handling and reduce costs.
