Hiscox moves into new offices on the Bristol waterfront...

Hiscox has moved into new offices on the Bristol waterfront as it continues its rapid growth since establishing a presence in the city in January 2006.

The company is moving to the Vertigo building at Cheese Lane, off Temple Way in the centre of Bristol.

Hiscox will be based on the first floor of the building, which incorporates a striking glass wall feature overlooking the river, and an elevator to the ‘boardroom in the sky' – the meeting room created at the top of the 140ft former lead shot tower.

Lee Hudson, the Hiscox Bristol manager, said: “We came to Bristol a year ago, doubling our workforce to six within a year and we expect to be 12 strong by 2010.

"This city is probably second only to London in its high concentration of insurance brokers with professional indemnity expertise, particularly in the area of accountancy, and we are seeing strong demand for our products in this area as well as our wider range of SME and private client services.

“Hiscox only occupies quality premises and the Vertigo building certainly fits that bill – superb, air conditioned and pristine new offices overlooking the river – yet with all the interest of a famous building.

"As a Bristolian I love what has been done to the lead shot tower site. It's a really interesting mix of fresh ideas with a historical landmark.”
