A bolt of lightning caused a blaze that resulted in up to £2m worth of damage to a church in Portsmouth.
Parishioners witnessed lightning striking St Michael and All Angels Catholic Church after attending morning mass. No one was injured,
but the church suffered extensive damage, including the destruction of its £100,000 organ.
Loss adjuster Miller Fisher is examining the damaged church, which was insured with Catholic National Mutual. The company is working with the insurer to restore services to the church.
Miller Fisher has recently worked on a number of claims involving ecclesiastical buildings, including a fire at a Catholic school and subsidence damage to church properties.
