Homeserve has consolidated its push into the home insurance repairs market with the £14m acquisition of property repair service Improveline.

Improveline, the trading name of Recommend, is the latest company to join the Homeserve group of companies, following the 2004 purchase of Sergon BRM (now named Homeserve Property Repairs) from GAB Robins.

The company said the deal would expand its network to include a further six branches in South East England with Improveline, whose clients include Norwich Union, Royal & SunAlliance, Barclays, Halifax, Zurich and Lloyds TSB.

Richard Harpin, chief executive of Homeserve, said the buy was part of the company's objective to grow its business sales by 20% annually.

Harpin said: "The acquisition extends our relationships with insurers in the property services market, while bringing the benefit of a directly employed network."

He added: "We are now working for the top 30 household insurers. Improveline brings five major insurance companies to the table, as well as a high-quality insurance team."

Although Harpin did not rule out further acquisitions in the household insurance market next year, he said the company provided a full offering through Sergon and Improveline.
