HSBC appoints head of Insurance Solutions Group

HSBC has appointed Simon Hotchin as head of the Insurance Solutions Group within debt capital markets.

In this role, Hotchin reports to Roger Thomson, European head of debt capital markets.

Hotchin will have responsibility for the Insurance Solutions Group, driving the development and delivery of strategic and higher value client solutions, including solvency protection, capital raising, balance sheet restructuring, and capital optimisation. Hotchin will be based in London.

Roger Thomson said: “Insurance is a strategically important area for HSBC and Simon’s appointment further helps us strengthen our overall DCM franchise.”

Hotchin brings extensive insurance related experience to this role, spending the last ten years with Morgan Stanley where he was responsible for both Benelux Insurance coverage and the Asset Liability Management (ALM) team.

Before joining Morgan Stanley in 1999, Hotchin managed the ALM/Risk Advisory team at Societe Generale in London.
