CII president Rick Hudson's speech at last week's conference opening ceremony inadvertently caused a few tears to be shed.

Hudson had told those at the ceremony on Wednesday that The Times would be publishing all graduates' names the next day. One graduate believed it and phoned home excitedly.

Her mother had run to the local paper shop to find her little girl's name but, sadly, The Times published only the fellowships and associateships, not the graduates.

Meanwhile, now that his tenure as CII president is over and he's back from firefighting duties in the US for Royal & SunAlliance, Hudson is looking for a job. His ideal position, he told Backchat, would be for a smaller commercial insurer based in the UK. Any takers?
