The US-based Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) has announced that it is in the process of creating international mould remediation standards.

The institute said:"Toxigenic mould has become a major issue in insurance, health and liability issue. The health effects and responsibilities of contractors, in particular, have resulted in the necessity of professional standards of remediation and clearance being established."

UK disaster recovery technician Jeff Charlton has joined the US-based task force and industry standards should be available early next year.
