The Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) has launched the second phase of its public awareness campaign to tackle insurance fraud.
A total of 2,368 cases of suspected fraud were reported to its hotline between February 2003, when the campaign was launched, and May this year.
Motor-related injury and/or damage claims amounted to 67% of the calls received, 22% related to other personal injury including employers' and public liability, and 8% of the calls were in respect of property damage claims including household and commercial premises.
