The collapse of Independent Insurance has left many firms in the West of England vulnerable, with some even facing financial ruin, according to one of the region's brokers, John Lampier & Son.
Since Independent's demise in June, companies have scrambled to find new cover to rearrange their mandatory and voluntary insurance. John Lampier & Son said the high premiums asked by new insurers, as well as unpaid claims, had left numerous firms struggling to remain solvent.
