Homeserve boss suggests entrepreneur Scout badge
Richard Harpin, founder and chief executive of the Homeserve domestic insurance business has convinced The Scout Association to launch an entrepreneur badge, the FT reports.
The move reflects a trend for schools and mainstream youth organisations to promote entrepreneurship as a discipline that encourages self-reliance and leadership, the FT says. The badge shows a rising bar chart of soaring sales.
Harpin is a former member of the First Stocksfield Cubs and Scouts Group, Northumberland. He said: “I felt there was a group of young people who would like to hear about entrepreneurship in an exciting environment outside the classroom.”
