The new Amercian federal backstop for terrorism risks is concerning insurers, according to a survey of the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII) in Los Angeles.

In the survey, 40% placed government support for terrorism cover as the most important industry issue.

Behind that, modernising regulation was ranked as vital by 37% of insurers, while mould coverage issues were considered important by 29% of delegates.

The NAII is the largest association of insurers in the US, representing some 715 companies. 1500 delegates attended the NAII meeting.
