A number of providers are reducing the cost of travel insurance.
Among them is online financial services provider Egg, which has also included winter sports cover at no additional cost.
Cover includes single and annual multi-trip policies and offers special rates for individuals, couples, families and single parent families.
Customers can choose cover for travel in Europe only or worldwide, and all can access free 24-hour medical emergency and legal helplines.
Airport company BAA, which is underwritten by Norwich Union (NU), has reduced prices on its one to four-day and five to nine-day individual policies.
BAA financial services head David Noble said: "Travel insurance is an essential, but easily overlooked, purchase for any traveller.
"Research continues to show many are prepared to risk travelling without."
