Insurancetimes.co.uk is continuing its look at the latest insurance tenders for contracts to public and private organisations.

Today, we look at Greater Manchester Police Authority call for insurance cover worth £4.8m.

The UK's second largest police authority is due to put its entire book of insurance contracts out to tender at the start of next week.

Speaking exclusively to Insurancetimes.co.uk a spokesman for the authority's broker said that its existing insurers had shown "little interest" in renewing cover.

She said: "We have not got commitments yet from our existing insurers. They have been dragging their feet over the last few weeks and are guilty of increasing their stop losses.

"They have been put under pressure from reinsurers who have been hit hard by recent heavy losses."

She added that the increased "thresholds for cover" have now led to insurers driving up rates.

The Fire Authority is seeking cover for:

  • Property insurance.
  • Motor insurance.
  • Liability insurance services.
  • Liability claims management.
  • Personal Accident.
  • Fidelity insurance.
