Members of the insurance industry have been invited to attend a workshop on construction materials used in housing.

The workshop, organised by BRE (Building Research Establishment) and Co-Construct will discuss issues surrounding materials used in housing, including durability and deterioration, potentially toxic properties, impact of land contamination and subsidence, resistance to flooding and wind, repairability, and overall insurability.

BRE said input from the insurance industry was keenly sought at the workshop.

The workshop will be held on 12 December at BRE, Watford. Attendance is free and delegates can register at http://projects.bre.co.uk/ConDiv/cpm/
