The IUA Digital Risk Working Party has announced two projects for the early part of the 2002: a market-wide debate in late February and a half-day seminar in early June.
The debate, with the working title "eRisk - The uninsurable?" will invite market participants to argue the merits for and against insuring eRisks.
Working Party chairman David Ovenden said he hoped the debate would encourage market participants to think more carefully about what they were insuring when they accepted or excluded eRisks.
"The debate will provide underwriters with an opportunity to find out why some companies are writing eRisk and why others are excluding it," he said.
"The working party aims to assist in the development of an informed marketplace for digital risk."
The half-day seminar will follow the debate. It aims to explore more fully the hazards of writing eRisks.
