Jardine Lloyd Thompson has donated £20,000, split equally, to cancer charities Everyman and the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

The donation was the first to be made by the company under its new charity initiative, "Making a Difference," which was launched earlier this year.

The money was raised by UK staff from two-days of charity events including a celebrity raffle and a horse racing evening. A Chelsea football shirt donated and signed by the team and Roman Abromovich raised £1,000.

Other fund raising events were held in offices across the country: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bracknell (Berks) and Chelmsford, Essex

JLT chief executive Steve McGill said: "'Making a difference' aims to do exactly that. At JLT we like to do things differently. We are not raising money just to make ourselves look good we are doing this because we are serious about making a positive difference to the lives of other people."
