John McFall has been re-elected to continue as Treasury select committee chairman.

At the beginning of last year, McFall spoke out on accusations that the directors of Britain's biggest insurers have little regard for their customers and enjoy huge pay rises.

He told chief exceutives - including those at Legal & General and Aviva - that rises awarded in 1999 and 2002 came when "the industry was going downhill like a slalom skier".

McFall has also lambasted the industry's attitude to customers saying: "The industry consistently puts its own interests ahead of consumers."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
