Kiln said it will increase its underwriting capacity in 2005 from £681m to £703m.
The syndicate said underwriting conditions remained favourable throughout 2004, and early indications show that it will remain favourable at the start of 2005.
The 2004 hurricane season, it said, served to firm up pricing in a number of insurance sectors in which Kiln specialises. In particular its energy account has again seen price rises following losses in the Gulf during Hurricane Ivan.
In general, the syndicate said last year's pattern of modest reductions was set to repeat itself in areas unaffected by the catastrophes of 2004.
