Zurich and Legal & General fill risk gaps in broker's home cover

Zurich and Legal & General have been signed up by Kwik-Fit Insurance Services to provide policies for its household customers.

The companies join AXA, Allianz Cornhill and Fortis on the panel which handles about 25,000 policies a year from Kwik-Fit's call centre near Glasgow.

Kwik-Fit Insurance Services managing director Martin Oliver said: "We are delighted to be expanding our panel of household insurers and to welcome Legal & General and Zurich on board. Legal & General will also be joining our motor panel.

"Our rates testing has confirmed that both insurers will fill areas of risk that our current panel does not cover and where we are potentially losing out on business to our competitors."

Oliver said Kwik-Fit was continually on the look-out to strengthen its

20-strong motor panel, which handled over 100,000 polices a year.

Kwik-Fit Insurance Services also recently completed a marketing drive to increase the number of referrals from its tyre and exhaust centres. The initiative used posters and point-of-sale displays.

  • Last month Kwik-Fit launched a term assurance product underwritten by Stirling. Business development director Bert Main said that 1,500 policies had already been sold.
