Legal & General (L&G) has confirmed the appointment of Ian Viney as its general insurance managing director.
It is understood that L&G's former general insurance head, John Castagno, has taken up a role with loss adjuster, GAB, as its new chief operating officer.
Viney joins the general insurance operation from previously managing Legal & General's joint venture in Egypt, Commercial International Life Insurance Company.
Legal & General group director Kate Avery, said: "Ian's appointment reflects the importance we place on the continued organic growth of Legal & General's General Insurance business.
"Ian's experience and expertise will ensure we build upon our successful strategy in general insurance delivering growth through the continued development of our relationship with current and new business partners, as well as customers and intermediaries."
