Legal and General is planning to expand out from home insurance into pet, travel and motor.

General insurance managing director Duncan Finch has vowed to remain competitive but ‘not to chase rates'.

Pet and travel are likely to be underwritten by L&G, with motor brokered to a panel of underwriters.

L&G currently pulls in the vast majority of its general insurance premium through brokers and independent financial advisers.

Finch told InsuranceTimes.co.uk: “We will not chase price or volume to drive our portfolio to a certain size, that is not our game. We price for our risks and will take that rate into the market and we will offer great service.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
