Allianz Cornhill is being sued by strip club chain Spearmint Rhino (SR) in a £122,000 legal expenses dispute.

SR claims that Allianz agreed to provide legal expenses cover for its clubs in Tottenham Court Road, London and Uxbridge. The policy provided cover of up to £50,000 per event.

In 2002, the Metropolitan Police applied for a revocation of the Justices on Licence and Special Hours Certificate held by the Tottenham Court Road club, and in 2003, for the revocation of similar licences held by the Uxbridge club.

SR claims the cost of defending the licences totalled £122,000 and that Allianz, "wrongfully and in breach of contract", had refused to pay.

An Allianz spokeswoman declined to comment.
