Legal insurance products will receive a massive boost if proposals for the reform of legal aid are carried through.
The Law Society has proposed that the £1.7bn per year legal aid scheme should be replaced with compulsory legal insurance and state-salaried defenders.
The consultation paper has been sent to around 8000 legal firms, many of which are withdrawing from legal aid because of its low profitability.
