Company has adapted over the years to accomodate changing business environment
Leeds-based insurance broker and independent financial advisor, Denney O’ Hara Ltd, is celebrating its 50th anniversary following its most successful year to date after reporting a 50% increase in profits.
The company, which has been based at the Lawnswood Business Park since 2002, was founded in Leeds in 1958 by Brian Denney and Terry O’Hara. The business was initially routed in Yorkshire-based textile and building firms but today supports a variety of companies in Yorkshire and across the UK.
Following rapid expansion, Denney O’Hara (Life & Pensions) Ltd was formed in 1966 to separate the financial services consultancy from the general insurances brokerage to meet increasing client demand.
Founder and director, Brian Denney, said: “The company has evolved over the years to accommodate the changing business environment. Most significantly, new corporate risk factors have emerged as technology and business practices have developed – cyber risk, for example, certainly isn’t something we had to worry about in 1958.
“We have also seen employee and employer attitudes to pensions alter. In the early days, Denney O’Hara mainly focused on providing pension and savings products whereas today, the majority of the work is to advise and support our clients throughout their changing financial needs.”
Both companies provide a range of services for individuals and start up businesses right through to firms with more than 1,000 employees and have supported many clients through periods of significant growth.
Denney adds: “We are delighted to have reached our 50th anniversary and this is most certainly a testament to the hard work of the team who continue to reflect the original ‘client comes first’ philosophy that Terry and I established in 1958.”
