Kent Chaplin takes up new role from January 2011
Lloyd’s has appointed Kent Chaplin as head of its Asia Pacific operations.
Chaplin will be based in Singapore and will replace Keith Stern, now Lloyd’s regional manager for the UK and Ireland. Chaplin will manage Lloyd’s operations across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore from January 2011.
Lloyd’s director of international markets Jose Ribeiro said: "I am delighted to welcome Kent to the team. His skills and industry experience will be an asset to our operations in Asia and key to our aspirations to build on Lloyd’s presence in this important market.”
Previously Chaplin was Lloyd’s head of claims, overseeing the Lloyd's claims management strategy and providing leadership on market-wide claims issues.
He will be replaced by David Lang, former chairman of the Claims Service Review Board. Lang joins from Ernst & Young where he was a director within the insurance sector.
Lloyd’s director of performance management Tom Bolt said: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome David to the team. I am sure that he will continue to build on the superb work that has been carried out by Kent Chaplin, the market and his team in developing and steering Lloyd's claims strategy to date."
