The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) has appointed Robert Childs as its new chairman.
Childs replaces current chairman, Stephen Catlin, who stands down after two years at the helm.
The new chairman is currently executive director of Hiscox. Previously Childs was active underwriter with Hiscox's non-marine syndicate.
Childs said: "Without Catlin's determination and careful diplomacy, we should never have succeeded in giving the market an effective voice. As the voice of the franchisees, the LMA will occupy a pivotal position between the market and the franchisor.
"Like the Corporation we must adapt our culture and structure to the new Lloyd's. We don't always agree with the franchisor, but we shall be on the same team. Our primary goals are to make the franchise successful and the London Market more competitive."
