Lloyd's chairman Lord Levene has called on the insurance industry to give more support to drug and alcohol misuse charities.
Speaking at a Lloyd's reception for Addaction, the UK's leading charity dedicated to tackling drug and alcohol misuse, he said: ""Lloyd's Charities Trust and the London insurance market have been supporting Addaction for the past three years, and the market should be proud of the support that we have been able to offer so far."
The event on December 3 was designed to highlight the support that the London insurance market has offered to Addaction and encourage senior figures to get more involved.
Lord Levene said: "I encourage more members of the insurance industry to get involved in supporting Addaction and the important work they are doing to tackle the devastating effects of drug misuse."
Addaction has received financial and in-kind support from insurers including CIS, Marsh, and Royal & SunAlliance. However organisers fear the scale of the problem requires more members of the insurance industry to offer their support.
