Marine manager was unfairly dismissed, tribunal finds

Adrian Donno was unfairly dismissed while working as a marine manager at Layton Blackham, a judge at the London central employment tribunal has found.

Layton Blackham is part of Bluefin, which was known as Venture Preference when Donno brought his case. On Monday the tribunal said Bluefin had made technical errors in the application of the statutory dismissal procedure.

Donno, who was made redundant in May last year, said he was pleased his claim had been upheld and hoped the decision would ensure other Bluefin staff were treated properly in future.

A Bluefin spokesman said the decision not to award Donno compensation reflected its belief it had acted reasonably.
