Ed Winter joins from Canopius

Lloyd's insurer Markel International has appointed Ed Winter as a terrorism underwriter in its marine and energy division.

He will be working with the existing marine and war team, headed by Jason Page.

Winter joins from rival Lloyd's insurer Canopius, where he helped develop a terrorism book.

"I am delighted that Ed has chosen to join Markel. I am sure that his experience and specialist knowledge will help to build a strong and profitable new account for Markel International," Page said in a statement.

Paul Jenks, managing director of the marine and energy division, added: "I am pleased to welcome Ed to our growing team. His knowledge of the terrorism market adds an important niche line to our overall marine and energy business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
