Markel International this week launched two new products to provide cover for members of the media and marketing industries against the potential risk of litigation.

Media Protector is a revision of Markel's previous product for local and national journalists and broadcasters.

It provides protection against media perils including defamation, infringement of intellectual property and malicious falsehood.

A new addition to Markel's portfolio, Marketing Protector, covers PRs, marketing consultants, advertisers and sales professionals.

The product also covers risks such as loss of production materials, errors in promotions and losses arising from complaints made to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Both products will be sold exclusively through brokers and incorporate recent changes to media law brought about by high profile cases involving Naomi Campbell and Lee Bowyer.

Ros Breese, senior professional indemnity underwriter at Markel, said: "By working closely with media and marketing lawyers, we are launching today products which are new, vibrant and unique in the marketplace."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
