Markel has announced that it is opening a new regional underwriting branch in Cambridge, which will manage the company's retail business in the Eastern counties.
The new branch will service supporting brokers previously managed by the Birmingham and Reigate offices.
Markel will write speciality commercial risks and professional and management risks from Cambridge.
The manager of the new office will be Joe Considine, who joins Markel from MIA General Insurance.
Steve Carroll, managing director of Markel, said: "The Cambridge branch will help Markel UK continue to provide excellent service to our regional broker network."
