Markerstudy has hired Darren Prior as its new business development manager to help develop the offering from its affinity-led business BDML Connect and classic motor broker Lancaster Insurance Services.

Prior joins Markerstudy from Aviva, where he was a senior account manager in the key partner division.

In his new role, he will focus on developing new affinity opportunities in BDML.

The affinity business is one of four broking businesses that Markerstudy bought from Capita in December 2013. The others included Lancaster Insurance Services, Delta Underwriting and Sureterm.

Group commercial director Martyn Holman told Insurance Times that the businesses had broken even and were set to produce a trading profit this year after contributing to a £14.4m loss for previous owner Capita in 2013.
