Michael Lange is to become chief executive of the commercial division at Cox Insurance Holdings.
Mr Lange, 38, has 17 years' experience in insurance. He started with Chubb & Son in the US and as vice president of Chubb Europe, based in London, he managed the underwriting box at Lloyd's.
In 1994 he joined ACE ltd, where he became chief operating officer for Europe.
He has been been running Cox's commercial division on a temporary basis. It has a premium income of £200m and products covering aviation, nuclear, property and casualty, political risks and treaty.
The post becomes effective on October 1.
