Moody's has given Chaucer's combined syndicate 1084 a B+ above average rating in anticipation of its 2004 syndicate merger.

Syndicate 1084 is a marine business and is merging with motor syndicate 587 and non-marine syndicate 1096 in 2004.
Moody's is basing is rating on the expectation that the syndicates will deliver above average returns for 2002 and 2003.
