Troubled Marsh & McLennan (MMC) has revealed that it is the subject of several more investigations spinning off from the inquiry launched by the New York attorney general in October 2004.

The US Department of Labor, it was revealed yesterday, has served the firm with a subpoena seeking documents related to the company's employee benefit plans services as well as the bidding procedures and compensation for those services.

MMC said it is fully cooperating with the labor department.

The firm also reported receiving requests from the US Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp for documents regarding the funding status of the company's own retirement plan and financial and business developments since last October's complaint.

MMC subsidiary Mercer has also been named at the heart of the turbulent affair.

The company has received requests for documents and testimony from the US Department of Justice in connection with the industry-wide investigation of potential anti-competitive agreements.

Mercer said it is cooperating fully with this investigation.
