MPs are to call for an introduction of legislation requiring evidence of car insurance to be displayed on windscreens in a similar way to tax discs, revealed a report. The move is an attempt to combat uninsured driving.

An Early Day Motion by David Crausby MP (Bolton North East), Helen Jones MP (Warrington North), and Lindsay Hoyle MP (Chorley), is being brought to combat problems caused by uninsured drivers being involved in road traffic accidents.

According to the report, the MPs said: "This could be monitored in the same way as car tax violation, would safeguard people involved in car accidents, and help reduce the spiralling cost of car insurance."
