Online broker MRL Insurance has appointed specialist travel and wedding insurance provider Travellers Protection Services (TPS) to provide a wedding insurance product.

The three-tier cover, available in standard, super or deluxe, will be sold through MRL's consumer facing website, said the company.

MRL said it had a target of selling cover for 1,200 weddings in its first year.

TPS will handle medical screening and claims for the self-issue MRL product, which is underwritten by UK Underwriting.

TPS sales manager Steve Browne, said: “With 85% of weddings currently uninsured, this is a market with huge growth potential.

“But it's a specialist type of insurance, which requires a close understanding of the market, something which we have been able to offer to MRL

“More and more brokers are realising that wedding insurance is a vital part of a full general insurance offer - and one that offers good opportunities to attract new customers and cross-sell to existing ones.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
