Munich Re has become the first European company to come under the US regulatory spotlight.
Regulators probing AIG are reported to be looking at the relationship the company has with the German company.
State and federal regulators are expected to meet today with Munich Re executives to discuss whether the reinsurer made any "misrepresentations" about some of its business deals with AIG, reports said.
Munich Re said regulators requested the meeting as part of the process of "gathering information" for their investigation.
