Frank Murphy, director of Lloyd's brokers Thompson Heath and Bond (THB), has shrugged off suggestions that he might get a David Beckham-style Mohican haircut as a forfeit for captaining his firm's football team to a 6-2 defeat.

Despite carefully masterminding his team's tactics for a week preceding the game, Murphy went on to see his team trounced in the friendly match against the Lloyd's Underwriting 11 at Charlton Athletic's Valley ground.

Speaking after his team's dramatic defeat, Murphy said: “Mentally we were strong, but our football let us down. Regrettably, we peaked in the warm-up.”

The match was organised by THB to test the agility of Lloyd's brokers and underwriters in a full-length match and penalty competition.

Many realised their boyhood dream of playing at a top flight league ground.
