Motor racing legend Murray Walker was guest of honour at a classic car run that raised £26,500 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

More than 60 classic cars, including a 1909 Renault and 2000 Morgan sports car, took part in the

Parliamentary Classic Car Run, which started from 60 different constituencies and ended at the Houses of Parliament.

Among them was race sponsor Peter James of West Midlands specialist vehicle insurance broker Footman James & Company. He was accompanied on the journey by three Macmillan nurses from Sandwell General Hospital in a 1947 Bedford Omnibus called Phyllis that used to ply Morecambe seafront.

The longest-travelled racers were a father and son team from Preston, Derek and Lee Mayor, driving a 1967 E-type Jaguar and 1985 Porsche 3.2 Carrera.
