MVRA, the UK's leading trade body for repairers, has opened its membership to SMART repairers.

This is the first time that a major trade body has recognised the growing sector of the vehicle repair industry and the move is seen as an important step in legitimising its status.

Open to all SMART repairers, the new membership will offer a range of benefits, not least the credibility in the marketplace that attaches to accreditation by a recognised body with monitored standards, the body said.

MVRA Managing Director Adrian Bond said: “Whilst SMART repairers are now widely recognised as a vital part of the UK vehicle repair industry, the current level of ongoing business support they receive is below par compared to the support offered to mainstream repairers. MVRA's new SMART membership will fill this vital gap and support these businesses both in terms of advice and on how to run a profitable business.”

In developing the new membership, MVRA worked closely with Skipton-based Ayce Systems, a key supplier of SMART repair systems which operates one of the UK's leading SMART training centres.
