Provincial Underwriting, a new liability and property intermediary, has been launched, targeting the construction and retail sectors.
Managing director Ron Berry said the company, which will begin trading on 1 January 2004, had been established in response to the difficulties businesses in these sectors are having obtaining employers' and public liability insurance.
He said the products, aimed at tradespeople working in these sectors, would be sold through affinity groups such as trade bodies and institutions.
