Crawford & Co's Counter Fraud Solutions division has recruited eight anti-fraud specialists from Capita and Cunningham Lindsey.

The new recruits boost the size of the counter fraud solutions team to 25.

Former Capita anti-fraud experts George Dafniss, Mandy Kennard, Mark Glynn and Nick Wilding have joined the team.

Ex-Cunningham Lindsey investigators Steven Stansfield, Paul Cartwright, Paul O'Donnell and Tony Jackson have also joined the Crawford team.

Crawford Counter Fraud Solutions head Bobby Gracey said the company would be strengthening the team further later this year.

Crawford has recently received the results of a trial of its SCORE (scientific customer orientated risk evaluation) anti-fraud system on motor-related claims in France.

The trial, which was run in conjunction with a Dutch insurer based in Paris, produced a 22% repudiation rate. The system reduced the insurer's claims spend by 7%.

The results revealed that 6.8% of claims were rejected immediately, while 14.7% of claims were found to be exaggerated.

The trial also revealed that just over 70% of claims were paid within seven days.
