Lloyd's 66th syndicate will start trading next month if it gets the go-ahead from regulators. Syndicate 1919, which has been approved by Lloyd's, aims to begin underwriting on October 1 this year, with a capacity of £50m earmarked for 2007.
The new syndicate will write aviation, energy, and marine business. It will be managed by Marlborough Underwriting Agency Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, and be capitalised by CV Starr and Starr International Investments Limited. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval
