CLAIMS management outfit Claims Management Group ltd (CMGL) has appointed Ian Finlayson, previously of AON, to head its non-London market operation.

Finlayson will cover asbestostosis claims as part of a general focus on UK latent disease claims and will help set up a centre specialising in the field.

He has already built up expertise on lung disease and work-related upper limb problems in a career which has included senior positions at Iron Trades Insurance Group and IRISC.

CMGL chief executive Jerry McArthur said: "We are very pleased to have recruited Ian, a well-known and highly respected market figure, who brings with him not just many years of claims and operational management experience at the highest level, but also a profound understanding of the issues raised by complex latent disease claims."

CMGL provides claims and insurance management services to self-insured corporations and insurers. It has more than 400 staff.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
