The insurance industry can crack down on jewellery thieves thanks to a new register that creates a link between jewellers, consumers, police and insurers.
Called eregister, the service already has more than 500 jeweller subscribers including Mappin & Webb, Ernest Jones and the F Hinds group.
To view to the site, insurers log onto the net and go to insurer.e-regsiter.net and can get a free demonstration. The site already registers more than £100m worth of jewellery.
