HSB Haughton appoints MD

AIG-owned HSB Haughton Insurance Services has appointed Peter Milton as managing director. He previously served as the group operations manager for parent company HSB Engineering Insurance. Former commercial manager Colin Foster has been promoted to group operations manager.

Crispin Speers moves for ESR

Lloyd’s broker Crispin Speers has acquired a majority stake in fraud-hit broker, ESR. In a statement, ESR said directors Paul Goodman and David Taylor would continue to lead the company using existing personnel to service its core wholesale, sport and entertainment markets.

Advent reports £25m profits

Advent, the first Lloyd’s insurer to release its results for 2007, has reported profits of £25.2m along with a successful first year of operation for its reinsurance arm, Advent Re. Profits for Advent were up £3m from last year.

Beazley makes record profit

Lloyds insurer and reinsurer Beazley Group has announced record profits before tax of £138.5m, up from £86.8m in 2006, exceeding analysts’ forecasts by £15.5m. Its gross written premiums were up 5% to £780.5m.
