’This partnership is an important step in helping ensure that more young people can access professional careers based on their talent and potential,’ says chief executive

Brown and Brown Europe has partnered with social mobility charity Futures For All to expand access to insurance work experience and career opportunities.

Via the partnership, the broking group will work directly with school-age students, offering mentorship and insight into professional life.

This includes speaker sessions from Brown and Brown team members to discuss how they entered the industry, what roles exist across insurance and why the sector can offer varied, long-term careers.

Commenting on the partnership, Nick Brook, chief executive at Futures For All, said: “The insurance industry plays a vital role in the UK economy, yet many young people have little exposure to the careers it offers. This initiative with Brown and Brown will help more students gain insight into the sector and the opportunities it provides.

“This partnership is an important step in helping ensure that more young people can access professional careers based on their talent and potential.”

New programmes

For those in higher education, the broker is also offering a final year internship scheme.

This will offer university students hands-on experience before they graduate and launching a new graduate scheme, designed to fast-track talented graduates into the industry.

Candidates in both programmes will gain rotational experience across critical areas including retail, claims, underwriting and wholesale broking.

Mark Williams, head of learning and development at Brown and Brown Europe, said: “We recognise that insurance isn’t always the first career choice for young people, largely because they haven’t been exposed to the diversity and excitement of the sector. At Brown and Brown, we are determined to change that.

“By launching our new graduate scheme and partnering with Futures For All, we are building a dedicated talent pipeline that supports individuals at every stage of their early development. Whether it is mastering technical underwriting or exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on our industry, we are providing the tools and qualifications young people need to succeed.

“This is an investment in our future and the future of the insurance industry as a whole.”
