The broker has announced four senior board appointments today

THB Group has announced that ex-Towergate director, Kay Smith has joined the firm as its new group chief financial officer.

The Lloyd’s specialist (re)insurance broker has just celebrated its 50th birthday alongside the appointment of several senior board members.

It follows the firm expanding its aviation team in September last year.

Appointments

Smith will take over from Rob Wilkinson who will transition to commercial director.

She has held a range of senior financial positions in the insurance broking sector, most recently at Gallagher .

This also includes a four year spell at Towergate - working as a finance director in personal lines. 

Frank Murphy, THB’s group chief executive, said: “Her experience across the sector, in retail and wholesale broking as well as MGA operations, gives her great insights into the challenges and opportunities for our business.

“I am confident that with her fresh perspective Kay will make a valuable contribution to the development of our firm.”

A new chairman has also been appointed, Malcolm Beane. He was a non-executive director with THB for over two years and serves as a chair of the audit committee.

And a new non-executive director Jane Comerford joins the firm, she has around 40 years of experience in broking, underwriting and MGA operations.

Murphy continued: “We are constantly evolving and developing our business to be focused on the future. These appointments represent an important part of that planning process.”
